CVCC Phlebotomy Fundamentals

Phlebotomy

Students will be trained on the principles of obtaining peripheral and capillary blood samples, specimen collection and processing, communication skills, clerical, safety standards, legal and ethical issues, and professional credentials. Students will complete 60 hours of didactics classroom and hands-on laboratory experience, as well as 100 hours of a clinical internship rotation at a local health care facility.

Admission requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent (enrollment in CVCC Adult Diploma Program is acceptable).

Prerequisites:

Prior to program enrollment, students MUST have completed the following courses: Medical Terminology: A Word Association Approach, and Human Anatomy & Physiology.

*Please complete the self-guided prerequisites above. 

Clinical schedule: TBD, following classroom instruction.
