A Message from the Superintendent

The focus of the 2024-25 school year will be “Curiosity.” In his educational foundation book, The First Days of School, Dr. Wong wrote, “The art of teaching is the art of assisting with discovery. You can teach a lesson for a day, but if you teach curiosity, you teach for a lifetime.” Ted Lasso stated, “Be curious, not judgmental,” referring to asking questions to get to know each other instead of making assumptions. To paraphrase Jim Tressel from our summer leadership conference, teach your players or students to stay curious; curiosity is how you continuously grow.

It is our students, staff, and communities’ curiosity that makes Cuyahoga Valley Career Center great! Your inquisitive nature and active participation have been instrumental in our success. Here are some examples from the last few years.

• In 2024, High School had 34 students qualify for national competitions
• In 2024, Adult Education’s customized training partnered with 26 companies and taught 264 of their employees
• CVCC has updated program areas, including the student-run Valley Inn Restaurant, Dental Assisting, Phlebotomy, Computer Networking Academy, Medical Administrative Specialist, Program & Software Development, Adult School of Nursing, and Sports Medicine Exercise Science
• Within the past seven years, CVCC replaced eight of the 10 roof sections from the original 1972 facility and will complete the remaining two roofs over the next two summers

These great outcomes and more have been accomplished with stakeholder input outlined in our strategic plan. CVCC is not only successfully providing quality instruction but also taking an active role in our community while being fiscally responsible, ensuring your trust and confidence in our operations.
