Every year I grow more and more energized and honored to serve as superintendent for all the students, staff, and community who are the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center (CVCC) family. The 2025-2026 school year will bring extra excitement with the 250th Anniversary Celebration of the birth of America. Our annual programs, including Veterans’ Day, Wreaths Across America, and Constitution Day, will have extra significance due to the many resources this national milestone will provide.
Beyond the build-up to July 4, 2026, CVCC continues to advance because of and for the outstanding students who choose to enroll. Last year, twenty-eight students qualified to attend national competitions in their respective career fields. Two students who competed nationally, Damon, a Networking Academy student, and Emilee, a Health Careers student, excelled in their competitions to earn 1st place and become National Champions. Staff members are proud of all our students’ accomplishments, including those who logged work-based learning hours that totaled nearly 85,000 last school year, equating to student earnings of approximately $1.2 million. Career Specialists who are assigned to our partner districts all conduct hands-on exploratory events for elementary and middle school students, bringing awareness to many career fields to our younger students. Examples of these events include Career Week at North Royalton Elementary; Tooth Fairy Messengers, a dental health program at Twinsburg’s Wilcox Elementary; and fourth graders from Independence School District spending time in the Construction Trades program building bird houses.
CVCC is strengthening our commitment to training individuals in our community, which includes developing professional skills needed to succeed in the workplace and in life. For the first time in my nine years with the district, we start the year with over 1,000 high school students and over 70 enrolled in our adult Practical Nursing program. Success is happening at CVCC!
